Why The Name?

When Becky was 10 years old, she drew a picture from a vision she entitled, “Heaven’s Rays.” Three days later, Becky saw in the sky rays of light shining from a glorious lit cloud and told her mother,” When someone dies, they go up on Jacob’s ladder to Heaven .” Little did she know, at that exact moment her 4-year-old sister died. Ever since, when Becky and her mother see Heaven’s Rays, they know a believer is going up to Heaven to be with Jesus. As of today, Becky has also lost her father, uncle, grandmothers, grandfather, and close cousin.

Its name started with a picture and vision Becky drew at age 10, but its mission and services offered to the community have developed through her lifetime of experiences with death, grief, mental health disorders, volunteering with foster children, and spiritual formation. Becky became a professional counselor after learning that “God comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” (2 Corinthians 1:4, NLT).

Heaven’s Rays Ministries was created to share the hope of Heaven and an eternal purpose in honor of her loved ones legacies. It strives to be a place for helping and caring for others who are broken-hearted, grieving, and hurting, while joining alongside them in their healing journey. It is passionate about advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves, and to destigmitize the shame, judgment, and misconceptions with mental health disorders.

“As Jacob slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway…Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said,’Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!’ But he was also afraid and said,’What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!'” (Genesis 28: 12;16, NLT)
